This tool copies your DeviantArt galleries to your computer. You keep a backup of your digital art collection on your own hard drive. It works automatically and keeps your folders updated.
Your computer needs to meet these basic standards to run this software:
Follow these steps to set up the tool on your Windows machine:
You can now find the da-cli icon on your desktop.
The tool uses a process called OAuth to connect to your account safely. You do not need to share your password with the program. It creates a local index using a database file to track which images you already have. This prevents duplicate downloads and saves your internet bandwidth.
The program creates a folder on your computer. It checks your DeviantArt gallery against this folder. If it finds new images on the website, it pulls them to your drive. It organizes the files by date and artist name automatically.
Open the program using the desktop icon. A small window appears. Follow these steps for your first run:
The program displays a progress bar. It lists every file it saves. Do not close the window until the process finishes.
You can change how the tool behaves in the Settings menu:
This application respects your privacy. It stores your data locally on your computer. The tool does not upload your files to any cloud service. Your login tokens remain inside your Windows system vault. The program only requests access to your public gallery and favorites list. It cannot change your account settings or post content on your behalf.
What happens if my internet disconnects? The tool pauses the process. It resumes from where it stopped once you regain your connection.
Does this take up all my internet speed? You can set a speed limit in the settings menu if you want to keep your connection free for other tasks.
Can I stop the sync halfway? Yes. Click the Cancel button. The files you already downloaded remain in your folder.
Where does the tool store the index? It keeps a file named index.db inside the folder where you save your images. Do not delete or move this file, as the program needs it to track your collection.
Do I need to leave the program open? The tool runs in the background. You can minimize it to the taskbar. It continues to work while you use other programs.
